Blackboard students will need to:
-
Purchase a new, unused Registration Code (15-digit voucher) from either the Connect for Education online store or from
the campus bookstore. -
Register the code on the Connect for Education Blackboard Registration site. This process will redeem the registration
code purchased for a 10-digit Blackboard Access Key. (This key will begin with the letters ‘BB’.) -
Log into the course on the school’s Blackboard website. Select the course from the Course List. Enter the Access Key when prompted (prompt is displayed when the course material is accessed).
You may also view our Quick Setup Guide for futher assistance with registration.
There are 2 steps required to access your Connect For Education course material in blackboard. First, the code you purchased must be registered/redeemed for an access key. The access key is what you will then use to unlock your course content in Blackboard. If you encounter an error during the registration or course access process, please refer to the details below for assistance.
Registration Errors (code doesn’t exist / code already used / could not locate your course)
If you receive any of the above error messages during the Connect For Education code registration process, the tips below may help you to resolve the problem:
-
Double check your code to ensure you are typing it correctly. The code should be 15 digits in length. Try typing the code instead of using the copy/paste function. If you purchased the code from the Connect For Education online store, you can verify the code you purchased in the confirmation email sent to your email address. If you purchased the code from your campus bookstore, you can verify the code located under the tear strip within your access card.
-
Verify that you have purchased the correct code for the course you are taking. The product you purchased should say ‘for Blackboard’ in the name. Please note that there are two different versions of the OnMusic Appreciation product (Standard and Extended). Check with your instructor regarding which of the course version they are teaching.
-
Keep in mind that codes should only be purchased from the Connect For Education online store or from your campus book stores. Codes should not be purchased from other third party sources. Codes cannot be resold/reused/shared.

Security related updates to many of the popular web browsers have resulted in some course content being ‘blocked’ (i.e. the audio pieces) or formatted incorrectly. This issue has been resolved on newer versions of our course cartridges, but may impact those running older cartridges. If you are impacted by this issue, please refer to the instructions below for help with unblocking this material.
NOTE: Some browsers may redirect you to the course home page once these security adjustments are made. Additionally, for many of the browsers, these steps must be performed each time you access the course site or after long periods of use.
Firefox
Once the course page loads, click on the padlock/exclamation symbol that appears on the left of the address bar. Click the right arrow next to the message indicating that the ‘Connection is not secure.’ Click the ‘Disable protection for now’ button. The page will reload/reformat. You should now be able to hear the audio.
Internet Explorer
Once the course page loads, click on the window with shield icon that appears to the right of the address bar. The browser will indicate that you are only seeing secure content. Click the ‘See all content’ button. The page will reload/reformat. You should now be able to hear the audio.
Google Chrome
Once the course page loads, click the shield symbol to the right of the address bar and select ‘Load unsafe script.’
Safari
Once the course page loads, click the player to maximize it. This will allow course audio to play.
